The Book of TreasuresIf you love words and adventure, you will definitely enjoy the game, The Book of Treasures! No, it isn’t a title of a book or a movie. It is a word game that is as exciting as a mystery thriller and as fun and fulfilling as Text Twist. It satisfies both your imagination and word building skills. It’s like solving word puzzles within an adventure-filled movie, but you’re actually using the Internet to play it.

Introduction to the Book of Treasures

The game originated from and its lead character is a female librarian, Jessica West. She works at an ancient library that is believed to be the location of a long lost Egyptian manuscript. One day, she finds 35 envelopes in a secret room in the west tower of the library. Each envelope contains six letters. Curiosity got the better of Jessica, so she decided to go on a mission to learn where the lost Egyptian manuscript is hidden so she opens one envelope every time the library closes. Legend has it that the manuscript was separated into pieces and every piece was hidden in different ancient books that are also in the library. Each completed puzzle envelope reveals a piece of the manuscript, so you better start helping Jessica and play the Book of Treasures!

How to play

When the six letters of an envelope are revealed, you begin forming words with them. You can either type out words or click on the letters to spell words. The words must be at least three letters long. Click the enter button to submit a word. If a word is valid, it will appear in one of the books located above the blanks where you input letters. If you need to erase letters, just press the backspace key or the clear button. In addition, click the shuffle button if you want to rearrange the letters to help you form more words.

There are usually 4 stacks of books with varying lengths. Each stack represents a certain word length: 3, 4, 5, and 6. The number of books in each stack is the number of words you can submit for each word length. For example, there are only 3 books in the stack of 4-letter words. Once you fill those 3 books with words and you play another 4-letter word, it can no longer be accommodated by the stack, so you have to submit words with different lengths. In addition, if a word you submit is invalid, you will be informed about it.

You are not required to fill up all the books in every stack. However, you are encouraged to do so because one of the books is the golden book. The golden book is only revealed at the end of each round. If you managed to guess a word that is written in the spine of the golden book, a piece of the missing Egyptian manuscript will be shown, so you should guess as many words as you can!

The scores you receive will depend on the length of the words you submit, so the longer a word, the higher score you’ll get. The following is the list of scores in The Book of Treasures:

3-letter word: 50 points

4-letter word: 125 points

5-letter word: 200 points

6-letter word: 400 points

Moreover, depending on the game mode you’re playing, you are awarded an additional 30 seconds for every 6-letter word you submit. Hence, you have more time to try and get all the words and have the chance to receive an extra 1000 points when you do so. In addition, if you get the word in the golden book, you also get another 1000 points. There are also multipliers that appear every time you submit a valid word, so guess away!

Game modes

The Book of Treasures has three game modes: Quest, Endless, and Timeless modes.

In Quest Mode, this is where you help Jessica West find the missing manuscript. You are given only two minutes to submit as many words as you can with the 6 letters in each envelope. Because it is a quest, it has a limited number of levels at 35. The quest ends when you complete the separated pieces of the manuscript and join them together.

In Endless Mode, there is no quest involved, so there are no manuscript pieces to be found. However, this mode is great for those who do not want the Book of Treasures to end. As the name says, there is an endless number of levels in this mode. You are also given two minutes in this mode.

Finally, in Timeless Mode, you do not have to feel pressured to form words because there is no timer!

Whether you’re the adventurous type or a word game lover, The Book of Treasures lets you experience the best of both worlds.
