WurdleTo keep themselves entertained during breaks, many people play word games which can also maintain the brain’s sharpness. Aside from productive game play, people also look for word games that are aesthetically pleasing and easy to learn. One of these games is Wurdle, a word search game that is similar to Boggle and Dropwords.

Overview of Wurdle

Wurdle is composed of a usually brightly-colored letter grid. There is a given time limit and you have to find as many words as you can on the grid. The more words you find and the longer they are, the higher your final score will be. The letter grid varies in size from 4×4 to 8×8. What makes this word search game different from others is that it has different customizable features that make game play even more interesting and challenging.

Game Modes

Wurdle has two games modes: classic and pass & play.

In classic mode, the default time limit is two minutes. You play by yourself, which is a good way to improve your word-building skills. Try to beat your record every time you play in this mode.

In pass & play mode, you can play with two to four opponents. There are two ways by which you can have an opponent: online or play on one device. When you play online, each player is given two minutes to form as many words as he or she can. Once everyone has played, the scores of each player are revealed and the one with the highest score wins. If you have only one device but you want to play with a friend or a family member, you can utilize the device by having two Wurdle letter grids on one screen. The two grids are inverted so you and your opponent can find words at the same time within two minutes.

Gameplay and scoring

It is very easy to play Wurdle. You simply have to connect letters diagonally, horizontally, or up and down. As you drag letters with your finger, a red line appears to connect them and every word you form is listed on top of the grid, so you can easily keep track of the words you’ve already played. You will also be informed of the word’s score once it has been formed. The individual letters do not have point values on them, but the longer a word is, the higher points you get, so it’s a good strategy to memorize lengthy words. If the game sounds are enabled, a valid word will trigger a pleasant-sounding tone. When you have only five seconds left, a countdown will begin so you can do some last-minute word building within the remaining seconds. At the end of every game, you will be able to see all the possible words that can be formed from the given letters.

Customizable content

As mentioned earlier, you can customize many of Wurdle’s features.

First, you can pick the size of the letter grid: 4×4, 5×5, 6×6, 7×7, or 8×8. This is great for both Wurdle beginners and experts, so they can play on a grid that’s suited to their playing level. Players can relax with a smaller grid or challenge themselves with a bigger grid.

Second, you can also set the number of minutes to find words. You can limit yourself from 1 up to five minutes, but you also have the option to play untimed. A good way to improve is to set a shorter time limit, but if you just like to enjoy the game, then go for a longer time limit or an untimed game.

The third thing you can customize is the minimum word length. You can test your knowledge of short words by setting the minimum word length at three or four letters, but you can also go for a minimum of five letters to further improve your word-building skills.

Finally, you can also customize the color of your letter grid as well as the background image or wallpaper of the grid. You can choose from a variety of colors like orange, green, red, blue, gray, black, pink, etc. If the colors aren’t enough for you, you can choose to upload a photo from your device’s gallery and use it as the game board background! You can pick a photo that can inspire and motivate you to improve your Wurdle moves or anything that can make the game more entertaining for you.

Ultimately, Wurdle is easy to play and has fun customizable features that can suit any player’s taste.
